Getting Started with uPlay

Welcome! This guide is written for anyone who has never used IPTV before. We'll take it step by step — from ordering a subscription to sitting on your couch watching your favourite channels.

What is IPTV?

IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television — which in practice means watching TV over the internet instead of through an antenna, satellite dish or cable. It might sound technical, but in everyday use you won't notice the difference. You open an app, log in and start watching.

What sets IPTV apart from regular streaming services like Netflix or Disney+ is the sheer breadth of content. With uPlay you get access to thousands of live TV channels from around the world, hundreds of thousands of movies and series on demand — all on your TV, computer, phone or tablet.

Step 1 — Order a subscription

To get started you need an active uPlay subscription.

  1. Go to uplay.se/subscribe
  2. Choose the plan that suits you — we offer monthly, annual and two-year subscriptions
  3. Complete the purchase — it takes less than a minute

Once payment is confirmed you'll receive an email with your login credentials, known as Xtream Codes. You can also find these on your account page at any time in case you lose the email.

What are Xtream Codes?

Xtream Codes is a login system consisting of a server URL, a username and a password. These three details are what you use to log into your IPTV app and load all the content from uPlay.

Step 2 — Download an IPTV app

To watch IPTV you need an app that can play the content. Think of the app as an empty shell — it has no content of its own. uPlay delivers the channels and movies once you log in with your credentials.

We have detailed installation guides for each app in the left menu if you need help with your specific device.

Step 3 — Log in with your Xtream credentials

When you launch the app for the first time it will ask how you want to add a subscription. Regardless of which app you use, the same rule applies:

Always choose the "Xtream Codes API" option.

Then fill in the following:

FieldWhat to enter
Playlist nameAnything you like — we suggest "uPlay"
Server URLFound in your confirmation email
UsernameFound in your confirmation email
PasswordFound in your confirmation email

Press Log in, Add user or Connect depending on the app. After a few seconds all your channels, movies and series will load automatically.

Can't find the email?

Check your spam folder. If it's not there either, log in at My uPlay and retrieve your credentials with the Login details button – see Find your login credentials.

Stuck logging in?

You log in to My uPlay with a link sent by email – no password. The link is valid for 15 minutes and works once.

If it says The link isn't valid when you tap it, it has expired or has already been used. Tap Request a new link and use the latest one that arrives. If no link arrives at all, check your spam folder and that you typed the same email address you ordered with.

If the problem persists, get in touch at hey@uplay.se.

Frequently asked questions

How fast does my internet connection need to be?

We recommend at least 30 Mbit/s for HD and 50 Mbit/s for 4K. Most modern broadband connections handle this without any issues.

Do I get access to all content immediately?

Yes. As soon as you log into the app you have access to uPlay's full library — no extra steps required.

Can I watch on multiple devices at the same time?

You can install uPlay on as many devices as you like, but only stream on one device at a time. To watch on several screens at once, add a connection yourself on My uPlay — see Watching on several devices at once.

How do I know if a movie has Swedish subtitles?

Look for categories named "Nordic" or "Svensk film", or titles marked with "SE" or "SWE". We also have a separate guide on Swedish subtitles that explains this in detail.

The app says the playlist isn't working or can't be read
  1. Choose Xtream Codes (or Xtream API) if the app has it.
  2. Type the server address exactly as it appears on your account page: starting with http:// — not https:// — and with no slash or space at the end.
  3. Delete the playlist and add it again.
  4. Try the same details in another app or on your phone. If it works there, the problem is the app — switch to TiviMate (Android TV), UHF (Apple) or IBO Player (smart TV).
How do I change the server address in the app?

Your username and password stay the same; only the address changes. In most apps you edit the playlist and enter the address from your account page. For apps you set up through a website using your TV's MAC address (IBO Player, SmartOne, SET IPTV, Smart IPTV), you make the change on the app's website and then restart the app. If you can't find a way to edit: add uPlay again with Xtream Codes and delete the old playlist. Editing is better than deleting, as your favourites usually stay put.
