Installation guide for the UHF app

UHF is our recommended IPTV app for all Apple devices — iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Most people are up and running within a few minutes.

Installation step by step

Step 1 – Download UHF

Open the App Store and search for UHF. The app works on Apple TV HD and every Apple TV 4K (requires tvOS 17 or later), and on iPhone and iPad.

Step 2 – Add your uPlay account

  1. Open the app and choose to add a playlist (source)
  2. Choose Xtream Codes – not M3U
  3. Enter a name (for example "uPlay"), the server address, username and password from Login details on My uPlay
  4. Save – channels, TV guide, movies and series will load, usually within half a minute

Tips

A guide with images for each step is available on uplay.se.

Good settings

  • Stream format: under Settings → General → Preferred video stream format, choose TS. If live channels don't start, or only start sometimes, this is the first thing to check.
  • UHF's own VPN (Settings → VPN Settings) sends all traffic on the device through the VPN. If you get errors while it's on, turn it off and try again.
  • Search looks through all your playlists at once.
  • Favourites: mark a channel as a favourite. You can rename, delete and sort your favourite lists with Edit at the top right.
  • Picture-in-picture on Apple TV: hold down the left arrow on the remote.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the server address in UHF?

Go to Settings → Playlists → choose your playlist → Edit details, enter the address from your account page and save. The save button can't be pressed if any field is empty. Your username and password stay the same. If that doesn't work: add uPlay as a new playlist with Xtream Codes and delete the old one – you may then need to add your favourites again.

Adult channels or other categories aren't showing

UHF hides adult categories by default, and a category can be hidden or locked. Go to Settings → Playlists → your playlist → Manage content → Live TV → Edit and tap the eye to show or hide. A grey category is hidden. Categories and hidden content can be protected with a PIN code.

"EPG sync failed"

UHF couldn't fetch the TV guide – the channels still work.

  1. Reload the playlist.
  2. Turn off iCloud Private Relay or any VPN and try again.
  3. Go to Settings → General → Xtream Codes and switch Remote settings off and on.

With Xtream Codes, UHF fetches the TV guide itself – you don't need an EPG address.

Red cross, "invalid format" or crosses on everything I play

UHF can't reach the server.

  1. Compare the server address in UHF with the one under Login details on your account page. It should start with http://.
  2. Turn off UHF's VPN if it's on (see above).
  3. Try over mobile data instead of WiFi.

"Data not available" in the TV guide just means the channel has no programme information.

Does UHF cost anything?

UHF is free to download and use with uPlay – all core features are included. The optional UHF Pro adds things like syncing between devices and removes ads. UHF decides what it costs.

I can't find UHF in the App Store

Check that the App Store is set to the right country and that your Apple TV has tvOS 17 or later. If you still can't find it, uPlay works in other apps for Apple.

Can I use UHF on several Apple devices?

Yes, with the same details. One subscription gives you one stream at a time – to watch at the same time you need an extra connection.
